It's rodeo time again in Estevan

It’s rodeo time again at the Estevan Exhibition Grounds and the usual lineup of festivities will be taking place. The weekend begins Friday at 4 p.m. with a parade. The famed CCA Rodeo will be taking place Friday night at 7 p.m.

It’s rodeo time again at the Estevan Exhibition Grounds and the usual lineup of festivities will be taking place.

The weekend begins Friday at 4 p.m. with a parade. The famed CCA Rodeo will be taking place Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Calamity Cowgirls are scheduled to be the intermission entertainment.

Friday night is the rodeo dance featuring Against The Grain at 9 p.m. at the Power Dodge Curling Centre.

Saturday, the light horse show will take place at 8 a.m. with events of showmanship, novice and open English and Western Pleasure, Equitation Classes, Driving and Gymkhana.

Also Saturday will be a wild horse race.

Sunday at 10:30 a.m. will start the first wave of the third annual dirty dozen mud run. The 5K run will have 12 obstacles, and runners will come in waves at 10:30, 11 amd 11:30 a.m.

Registration fee for adults is $50 and for kids is $40. People can register online at www.events.runningroom.com

The ranch rodeo is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m., with beer gardens opening at 11 a.m. Events there will include cattle rustling, pasture treating, hide race, rescue race, trailer relay, calf scramble, wild horse race and wild cow milking.

The kids rodeo will take place on Sunday morning for kids 10 and under. That gets underway at 9 a.m. and events will include barrel racing, mounted shooting of a water gun, goat tying without a real goat, stick horse roping and pole bending.
