A local team competed at the RBC PGA Saskatchewan Scramble provincial tournament that was held at the Elmwood Golf Course in Swift Current on Monday.

Jeff Ward, Mark Spencer, Brad Wilhelm, Tenille Wilhelm and Amanda Minchin finished with a score of 13-under-par 59. But when factoring in the team’s handicap, which helps determine the champion, they finished with a score of 55, which left them in 11th spot, and seven strokes behind the provincial champions from Cooke Municipal in Prince Albert.

The local entry fired a 28 on the front nine and a 31 on the back.

The scramble is similar to a Texas scramble used in tournaments, but more competitive. Each player has to use at least three drives during the day.

Teams can have up to two players with a handicap of 10 or less.

Minchin, who is the head pro and general manager at Woodlawn, joined the team for provincials.

Estevan’s qualifier for the scramble was held in July.
