The largest recreation hockey tournament in the province is well underway.

The Estevan Strippers Molson Spring Bust tournament opened on Wednesday night, with a few games taking place at Affinity Place, the Power Dodge Ice Centre and the Bienfait Memorial Arena.

A few more games were played at those three arenas on Thursday night.

The games kicked into high gear on Friday, with games happening throughout the afternoon and the evening. There will be action throughout the day Saturday, and then the tournament will wrap up with the playoffs Sunday.

Forty teams are competing in the tournament, and they are divided into 10 divisions.

The tournament also features cabarets at the Power Dodge Curling Centre on Friday and Saturday nights. DJ Dave Elliott will supply music Friday, and Third Degree Birnz will supply live music Saturday.

The curling centre is also the site of a social area throughout the weekend.

The tournament has averaged $15,000 in donations for local organizations over the past five years. It also creates a significant economic spinoff for the community.

The Mercury will continue to have updates on the tournament during the weekend.
