Three local teams were in Swift Current for the Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan command’s 8-ball provincial championships on Saturday afternoon.

The team of Leonard Grube, Jim (Frosty) Forrest, Willie Forrest and Doug Jensen finished second in the six-team tournament with 20 points, six points behind the winning team from Swift Current.

Another local team finished fourth with 19 points. Brad Bjorndal, Cedric Delavand, Ryan Fleck and Kolby Fleury were tied for third, but placed in fourth due to the tie-breaking format.

The team of Jim Barnstable, Doug Cairns, Burva Connor and Bryan Prette finished sixth with 17 points. They were last year’s provincial champions.

Jim Forrest said teams accumulated points based on the wins they picked up during the tournament. The most points a team could have was 40.

He pointed out the competition was very close, with the second to sixth place entries separated by three points.
