Two members of the Western Hockey League (WHL) champion Prince Albert Raiders are scheduled to be in Estevan this weekend, and they’ll have a couple of special guests with them.

Defenceman Brayden Pachal, who is the Raiders captain, and forward Cole Fonstad are scheduled to appear at the Rafferty Rumble activities on Fourth Street in downtown Estevan on Saturday.

Joining them will be the trophies the Raiders won as the WHL’s Eastern Conference champions, as well as the Scotty Munro Trophy, which is presented to the league regular season champions, and the Ed Chynoweth Cup, which goes to the league champions.

Pachal will be signing autographs at about 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for 30 minutes each.

The Raiders won the league title by defeating the Vancouver Giants in Game 7 in overtime of the best-of-seven final, which sent them to the Memorial Cup in Halifax.

While the Raiders were winless at the tournament, Pachal and Fonstad impressed, as each player recorded three points in three games. Either Fonstad or Pachal was in on every goal the Raiders scored at national tournament.

The WHL trophy is named after Munro, who played a pivotal role in local hockey history when he moved the Humboldt Indians to Estevan to become the Estevan Bruins in 1957. He also played a key role in the creation of the WHL in the 1960s.
