The young guns defeated the old guard at the annual Figgy/Messer/Price Cup at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

The Young Team defeated the Old Team 16 1/2-15 1/2 to win the event, which is patterned after the biennial Ryder Cup showdown between the best golfers from Europe and the U.S.

The Young Team was comprised of golfers under the age of 35.

The opening day featured team play through two-man best ball and alternate shot competitions, and the young team dominated to lead 11 1/2-4 1/2 after play on Saturday.

The old team rallied during the singles matches on Sunday, winning 11 of 16, but came up just one point short.

Dustin Wilson and Cody Balon captained the Young Team, while Tony Health and Ron Dunville were at the helm of the Old Team. Captains selected the players for their respective squads.

The tournament is named after the late Rod Fagerheim, Pat Messer and Dave Price, who were all strong supporters of golf in the community.
