Peewee Bruins sweep Melville

The first game was a 5-1 victory on Nov. 30. Kobe Wotta opened the scoring for Estevan with a short-handed goal with 14 seconds to play in the first period. Carter Hirsch and Dawson Galbraith tallied in the second to up Estevan’s advantage to 3-0.

Melville would get one before the second period was finished, but then Axton Martin and Keagan Patton scored in the third to put the game away. Patton’s goal was into an empty net.

Joshua Blair was in goal for the victory.

The following day, Estevan beat Melville 3-1. Graidan Irwin scored 75 seconds into the game to give Estevan a 1-0 advantage. Carson Deichert’s goal late in the second period doubled the Bruins lead.

Melville cut the lead in half with a goal in the third, but then Galbraith scored into an empty net with 27 seconds remaining to dash the Mills hopes of a comeback.

Amy Swayze was in goal.

Estevan’s record now stands at 3-4-2, which leaves them fourth in the Saskatchewan Minor AA Hockey League’s South Division standings.

The Estevan Western Star Signature Hotel atom tier 1 Bruins split their games at the Yorkton Terriers on the weekend.

Yorkton defeated Estevan 7-4 on Nov. 30. The game was tied 3-3 after the first period, but then Yorkton outscored Estevan 4-1 in the second. Both teams were held off the scoresheet in the third.

Cameron Milbrandt scored twice for Estevan. Riley Gigan and Boston Tait had the other goals.

The following day, Estevan defeated Yorkton 7-5. Estevan led 2-0 after the first period and 5-3 through two.

Milbrandt had the hat trick in the victory. Holden Martens, Boston Tait, Logan Piper and Broden Henry were the other goal scorers.

Estevan (4-5) sits fourth in the South East Minor Hockey League’s atom tier 1 division.
