Nearly 130 drivers took part Saturday in the Estevan stop of the South Central Racig Circuit for motocross riders.

That total is in line with what they had at least year’s event and nearly perfect weather all day was a factor in making sure the event went well.

“The weather definitely played a good part of it,” said organizer Bryce Friess. “It wasn’t windy so racers weren’t getting blown all over the track when they were jumping.”

The track conditions went well thanks to the amount of volunteer help they had this year once again despite the mostly dry conditions the past few weeks.

“The crew that was working throughout the week did a lot of volunteer hours, put on a lot of water and get it prepped up as well,” Friess said.

Results weren’t known as of press time but they did have a full group of riders in C class, B class, A class, super mini, 50cc/small wheel, 125-two stroke, 65cc, ladies, vet (30+), 85cc and youth.

In order to hold a successful event, Friess said you need a good volunteer staff during the week doing race preparation and then the flag crew has to be good in order to keep good communication with the riders.

“And just a whole lot of luck, really,” Friess said. “It went really well (Saturday). Everything went smooth and we were able to start off first thing in the morning and no big crashes held us up and no storms, so it was great.”

Friess also competes in a couple of the events and had what he called a great day. He rode in the A class and got second overall and then got first place in the youth class.

There were a lot of local riders at the circuit stop, Friess said.

“We got everybody I could think of in town and it was great to see them all,” he said.  “And there were even a couple of new guys that came out.”

The next stop on the circuit is Oxbow Aug. 25-26 and then there are two more stops on the tour before the end at Carlyle Sept. 15.
