The Estevan Tap House Wolves didn’t finish the 2020 Saskota Baseball League with an unbeaten record, but they were still the best team in the league.

The Wolves wrapped up the campaign with a 6-5 loss to the host Kenosee Cubs Friday night. Estevan finished the season with an 8-1-1 record, the same mark as the second place Carlyle Cardinals.

But the Wolves won the tie-breaker on the strength of a 15-10, come from behind win over the Cardinals on July 24 in Estevan.

The Cubs, meanwhile, moved into a tie for third place with the Carnduff Astros at 6-3-1, however, the Cubs won the tie-breaker because they won a game against Carnduff early in the year.

The Redvers A’s will finish fifth at 5-4-1. They finished their season with a 7-5 win over the Kipling Royals on Friday.

The Oxbow Chiefs (4-6) wrapped up sixth place Friday with a 15-8 victory over the Southeast Fireballs (1-7-2), who will finish eighth. The Royals will be the seventh seed after compiling a 3-7 mark during the season.

The Arcola Threshers finished ninth at 0-9-1, and will play the Fireballs in a play-in game on Monday. The winner of that series will play the Wolves in the opening round.

The league will run its playoffs in August, using best-of-three series throughout to crown a champion.
