Elecs teams do well in badminton at Weyburn

Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs athletes had a good weekend in Weyburn on the badminton courts. Four of five teams in junior badminton made the finals in their respective groups and two of those teams won gold.

Four of five teams in junior badminton made the finals in their respective groups and two of those teams won gold.

Kioshi Rioferio and Bethany Montebon won gold in the girls doubles out of a field of 12 teams. Francois Adaya and Clark Cabiluna won gold in boys doubles in the same-size field.

The team of Kaleb Poole and Gabrielle Stephany made it to the semifinal, as did Jada Gibson in girls singles. Meanwhile in boys singles. Layne Gilroy placed third in pool play out of six.

Among the seniors, the mixed doubles team of John Sasi and Trinity Rooks won gold, and Kaiden Tuscherer and Jonah Bacorcik won gold in boys doubles as well.

The girls doubles team of Sammy Sade And Khrystal Montebon won silver, and Justin Van Achte won silver in boys singles and Taylor Haux won silver in girls singles.

Regionals will be May 5 in Whitewood, and provincials will be May 12 at McLurg High School in Wilkie.
