Megan LeBlanc earns collegiate honour

Estevan’s Megan LeBlanc was named the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Week for Dec. 2-8.

LeBlanc, who plays for the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Ooks women’s hockey team, helped her squad defeat the MacEwan Griffins 1-0 in the Falun Female Frozen Challenge outdoor hockey game, to retain first place in the ACAC heading into the Christmas break.

It was the first outdoor game in ACAC hockey history.

LeBlanc was pivotal in the victory, creating several scoring opportunities before netting the game winner with seven seconds remaining in double overtime.

“Megan played great. Despite the snow she battled through and continued to create offence,” said head coach, Stef Thomson.

LeBlanc is a second year personal fitness trainer student.
