Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs football player Shanelle Rioux has been selected to join the 2019 All-Canadian Titan team for the Grey Cup festival in Calgary in November.

Rioux was one of 10 players selected from across the country, and the only one from Saskatchewan. While in Calgary, she will meet and train with her peers, CFL players and alumni during the festivities.

Her selection is part of the Nissan Kickoff Project, which aims to showcase Canada’s most notable high school football players who shine on and off the field.

She is entering her Grade 12 year with the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs football team. Often the only female player on her teams, Rioux does an excellent job balancing football, school and work. She has excelled on offence, defence and special teams.

Rioux also recently wrapped up her first season with the Regina Riot female tackle football team. And she was selected to be part of an under-18 Saskatchewan female squad.

In May and June, early bird nominations opened for players, coaches, family and friends to nominate a high school football athlete as a leader on their team, in the classroom, and throughout their community for the chance to have this experience at the Grey Cup.

The student-athletes selected for the Titan team have been recognized for exemplifying the Titan values of toughness, innovation, tenacity, ambition, and notability.

Approximately 70 will be selected to be part of the Titan team. Nominations remain open into October, and remaining team members will be selected in the fall.
