The Sole-stice Classic regional meet took place at the Chamney Family Track at ECS Monday afternoon with a lot of kids from the area trying to make it to provincials in Saskatoon June 16.

Kids in divisions from 2009-10 (Meteors), 2007-08 (Comets) and 2005-06 (Stars) took part in a maximum of four events. Those included, depending on the age group, the standing or running long jump, the softball throw, the 50m, 60m, 80m, 100m or 150m dash, and 600m or 800m run.

There were no entry fees and the top two in each of the events could take part in provincials, sponsored by the Aboriginal Track and Field of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Athletics. The emphasis was on fun towards an introduction to young athletes to these events and the meets are geared to young athletes who may not have access or opportunities to compete against others.
