Two teams have moved on to the semifinal round in the Big Six Hockey League’s playoffs.
The top-seeded Yellow Grass Wheat Kings reached the semis by sweeping the Kipling-Windthorst Oil Kings in their best-of-five series, while the Carnduff Red Devils advanced by doing the same to the Midale Mustangs.
Yellow Grass outscored Kipling-Windthorst 22-4 in the three-game sweep. The Wheat Kings took Game 1 9-1 on Feb. 13, Game 2 5-2 on Feb. 15, and wrapped up the series with an 8-1 win on Feb. 17.
The Red Devils were also dominant in their series win over Midale, outscoring the Mustangs 17-4. The Red Devils blanked the Mustangs 6-0 in Game 1 Feb. 12, routed the Mustangs 7-2 in Game 2 on Feb. 15, and then doubled-up Midale 4-2 in Game 3 four nights later.
Two series were still ongoing as of Lifestyles press time. The Redvers Rockets had a 2-1 series lead in their matchup with the Wawota Flyers. Redvers took Game 1 6-1 on Feb. 13, but Redvers knotted up the series two nights later with a 5-4 overtime win. Redvers took back the series lead by winning Game 3 4-1 on Feb. 19.
Game 4 was scheduled for Feb. 21 in Wawota. (Results were not available at press time). Game 5, if necessary, would be Feb. 24 in Redvers at 7 p.m.
The Carlyle Cougars are trying to keep their quarter-final series going with the Bienfait Coalers. The Coalers won Game 1 4-3 in double overtime on Feb. 12, and extended their series lead to 2-0 with a 9-5 victory on Feb. 15.
Carlyle stayed alive with a 5-2 victory on Feb. 19.
Game 4 is slated for Feb. 22 in Bienfait at 8 p.m., and Game 5, if necessary, would be Feb. 24 in Carlyle at 7 p.m.

The Red Devils and the Rockets have also advanced to the next round in provincial play.
The Red Devils defeated the Southey Marlins in the first round of senior B provincials. Southey took Game 1 4-3 on Feb. 9 in Southey, but Carnduff responded with a 6-2 victory at home a week later to take the two-game, total-goal series 9-7.
Carnduff will play the Rocanville Tigers in the next round. Game 1 will be Feb. 28 in Rocanville, and Game 2 is March 2 in Carnduff.
The Rockets defeated the Ochapowace Thunder 6-4 in their two-game, total-goal senior C first round series.
The two teams played to a scoreless draw in Game 1 Feb. 9 in Redvers, and then the Rockets defeated the Thunder 6-4 in Ochapowace on Feb. 17.
Redvers will play the Theodore Buffalos
in the next round. Game 1 is Feb. 28 in Theodore, and Game 2 is March 2 in Redvers.
The Wheat Kings saw their hopes of winning a provincial title come to an end in the first round of senior A provincials. They lost 13-6 to the Milestone Flyers in their two-game series. Milestone took Game 1 7-2 in Yellow Grass, and Game 2 6-4 in Milestone.
The Wawota Flyers have yet to begin their senior D series against the Kraik Warriors. Wawota travels to Craik on Feb. 23, and hosts Craik on March 2.
